Johan Adolph Rust was born on April 13th, 1828 in Amsterdam. He took drawing lessons at the Academy in Amsterdam, but also recieved artistic training from his uncle Cornelis Springer (1817-1891), the famous master architectural painter. Springer, who is known for his beautiful qualities of light, also taught Rust the skills of displaying light in his paintings. Rust mainly painted citys . . .
